We are an intensive 2.5 acre vegetable and flower farm on Mount Desert Island. We are family run and prioritize creating a welcoming outdoor space for families and customers. We sell through an on-site farmstand May- November and to local wholesale accounts year-round, and an online farmer’s market in the off-season.

Hours and Work Season

We are interested in appliciants for full-time and part-time starting in September, with the opportunity for part-time hours in the off-season and full-time in the shoulder and summer seasons. Full Time – 8 hour days, Monday-Thursday and Friday/Saturday Part Time – half-day and/or partial work weeks available within Monday-Saturday

Job Description

We favor candidates who have worked in production scale organic vegetables for at least one season and are interested in farming long term, but we encourage non-experienced farmers to apply. At all levels of experience, we expect all employees to be trained on the farm through demonstration and hands-on-work. These positions are not apprenticeships and on-site housing is not available at this time. ——————————————————————————————————————– Field Crew Position: In this position, employees will be responsible for plant house propagation, field and bed preparation, successive transplanting and seeding, preventative management and control of weeds/pests/disease, crop training and maintenance, tunnel upkeep and management, harvesting, processing flowers, cleaning and packing produce, care of laying hens, and establishment of perennial corridors. On a weekly to monthly-basis, field-focused hires will work in the farm stand or attend a farmer’s market. Responsibilities in a retail environment include communicating with retail and wholesale clients, stocking and maintaining the displays, keeping inventory, and working at the register. From all team members we expect: A passion for working in and learning about food, agriculture and food systems. A history of work in a physical job, preferably on an organic, diversified vegetable operation. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Willingness to work in the elements while doing continuous and repetitive tasks. Striving towards working effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced and in-flux work environment. We rely on a consistent desire to improve and be open to constructive feedback from ourselves and employees. Willingness to be open, curious, good humored and kind with all people in the work, retail, and community environment. Compensation: Starting hourly at $15. Dependent upon experience. Access to produce.
